The Business Development Director will lead Young & Laramore’s growth efforts by identifying and developing relationships with brands that value strategic thinking, creative excellence, and measurable impact. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will direct and execute the agency’s new business strategy—translating Y&L’s creative and strategic reputation into sustained business growth. The position will oversee the full growth ecosystem, including prospecting, PR, pipeline development, and pitch management, working closely with leaders across Account Management, Strategy, Creative, and Media.
Responsibilities:
LEAD Generation & Prospecting
Develop and execute a growth plan and strategy to identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities.
Maintain a dynamic pipeline of prospects and ensure consistent outreach and follow-up.
Oversee growth analytics—forecasting, tracking conversion rates, and optimization.
Agency Marketing & PR Oversight
Work closely with agency leadership to effectively present Y&L’s position in the marketplace.
Manage PR consultant to elevate Y&L’s brand presence through thought leadership, PR, content, and events.
Pitch Leadership
Oversee relationships with search consultants and manage RFP responses.
Partner with department leaders to shape proposals and pitch strategies.
Facilitate all aspects of pitches, even when not participating in final pitch meetings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Account Services, Creative, and PR teams to align business development efforts with agency capabilities and client needs.
Reporting & Budgeting
Track and report on new business activities.
Collaborate with the CEO on budgeting and resource allocation for business development.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proven success in business development within advertising, marketing, or digital media.
A proven track record of developing new business pipelines and winning significant account wins.
Strong understanding of agency operations and client acquisition strategies.
Skilled communicator—credible with CMOs and persuasive presenter.
Experience working with senior teams and collaborating across departments.
Familiarity with CRM tools.
